What you see here is my latest endevour, to dig a mine shaft down to bedrock. Unlike my previous mine shafts this one is 21 by 21 blocks across. It takes about 1 iron pickaxe and nearly 1 Minecraft day to go down one block. Then it’s a quick run back to base to unload […]
While digging around underground it’s nice to come across a concentration of resources. Seen here we have diamond (light blue), redstone (red) and Lapiz (dark blue). Lapiz isn’t really useful beyond making a bunch of sheep blue, and redstone is more common than I need now, but diamond will put a smile on my face!
Since I’ve had such good results from the straight down mine shaft in my single player survival world I’ve decided to use the same strategy in the multi-player world that I’ve been playing with my sister. You can see her down there mining away at the stone while we take turns climbing up to the […]
I prefer mining straight down now instead of mining down diagonally and putting in stairs. You can use ladders to move up and down the shaft and once you’re satisfied with the depth, i.e. you’ve reached bedrock, you can put one of those little pools of water floating just above the ground to jump down […]
I planted a sapling on a small patch of dirt inside on of my caves in my single player survival world and returned to find that it had grown to surprising heights. I don’t know exactly how the tree-growing algorithm works- I’ve seen some things on Youtube about putting dirt rings above your sapling- but […]
Whenever I find diamond in my single player survival world I carefully mine all the blocks around it before proceeding to mine the diamond itself. It never hurts to be safe with such a precious resource. Immediately after mining all the diamond from a vein I run back to my nearest storage location and dump […]
