Ravines are one of the new landscape features

In the leaked release of Minecraft version 1.8 the land generation algorithms have been overhauled and now if you go exploring you’ll generally find more epicness in the world around you. One example of these new landscape features are ravines. They are long, deep trenches, like deep cuts in the landscape. Be careful when running because falling into one of these might kill you.
